Understanding glaucoma can help you avoid progressive vision loss

Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness, and currently there is no cure. Often glaucoma has no symptoms until very late in the course of the disease, and once you have vision loss from glaucoma, you won’t get it back. Many patients may not notice the slow progression of the condition as their vision gradually diminishes. Ophthalmologist Laura Howard, M.D., of MD Eye Care in Orange, Calif., explains the symptoms and treatments for this disease.
